Towards the end of my final year and once I’ve graduated, I want to then take the time to focus more on getting my work into galleries. I am hoping that working on the graduate shows will give me more experience in setting up and curating an exhibition, therefore making it a good idea to aim to get my recent Major Project work into galleries as it’s something I will hopefully be familiar with exhibiting. As suggested previously, I think it would be a good idea to focus on getting my work into group shows, especially working with other graduates with similar aims. After exhibiting our graduate show, I will hopefully have more experience with running exhibitions in a group and how much each person needs to contribute to make sure the show runs smoothly. I think Cell Project Space would be a good gallery to contact and look into further as I really like that it offers studio space for artists as well as the exhibition space. I also think that even though in itself the National Portrait Gallery doesn’t sound achievable or practical, I think that the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize is a good goal to aim for and work towards to keep myself motivated to keep working and improving. And even though the chances of winning the prize are quite low, especially so soon after graduating, getting my work into the gallery as part of the show is an achievement in itself.
